Unidad didactica: Our planet.

First in English:

The title of this unit is: Our Planet.

In this unit, we are going to learn about the environment in our planet. We are going to deal with vocabulary related to pollution, weather, countries and continets, as well as vocabulary refered to the cardinal points.

Regarding grammar, we are going to learn how to use present simple and present simple continuous, but more specifically, we are going to create sentences using the first conditional and collocations related to the topic.

This unit is going to be divided into 5 seasons. In each season, the pupils are required to do listening, speaking, reading and writing activities, as well as exercises which require the use of English. In order for them to do the activities properly, the must have a look at some relevant information, for instance: vocabulary and grammar.

Regarding the activities, we are going to divide the unit into 5 lessons. In the first season, the students will listen to a conversation between two people and they would have to be able to answer a series of questions and complete some exercises about the audio they have listened to. This way, they will practice their listening skills. Moreover, they will debate in groups of 4 about the mentioned materials, if they knew them and in which ways do they contribute to keep the planet save from pollution. With this activity they practice their speaking skills.

In the second lesson the students will practice their speaking skills, specially. They will have to look at a series of photographs on the whiteboard and debate in pairs about the places they are being shown, the countries where these are located, talking about their culture related to nature if they know it, etc.

In the third lesson the students will practice reading and writing. They will read two short texts about new means of transport that are less pollutant. After reading they would have to locate the collocations in the text and do some exercises. Finally they will have to write a letter to a friend telling him that they are having a weekend in one of the places described in the texts they just read. They will have to tell him how are they doing, if they are having fun and what activities are they doing.

In the following lesson, the students will have to write a letter to a magazine talking about the improvements they would do in the development of the environment and they will write about how they see an ideal planet in the future. With this activity they would be practicing their writing, specially.

In the last lesson, the alumni will have to perform a situation in which they are going on an excursion to a natural area. They would have to describe why they chose this place, the means of transport they used to get to there, the activities they are going to do there, etc. A Powerpoint presentation would be in order.

El titulo de la unidad es: Our Planet.

En esta unidad, vamos a aprender sobre el medioambiente en nuestro planeta. Vamos a trabajar con vocabulario relacionado con la contaminación, el tiempo, los países, los continentes y los puntos cardinales, entre otros.

En lo que se refiere a la gramática, vamos a aprender a utilizar el Presente Simple y el Presente Continuo, pero mas concretamente, vamos a crear oraciones utilizando el Primer Condicional y las 'Collocations' relacionadas con el tema.

La unidad se divide en 5 sesiones. En cada sesión los alumnos desarrollaran las habilidades de Listening, Reading y Writing, como también el uso del Inglés en la gramática. Para que ellos puedan realizar las actividades adecuadamente, deben echar un vistazo a cierta información que les sirva de ayuda, por ejemplo: vocabulario y gramática. El siguiente link les llevara directamente a una carpeta del portafolio donde encontraran vocabulario y gramática relacionados con el tema.

En la primera sesion, el contenido se centrará en la comprensión oral. Los alumnos escucharán un audio sobre dos personas hablando de nuevos tipos de materiales no contaminantes. Después, completarán dos ejercicios en los que tienen que rellenar huecos con vocabulario, y responder a preguntas sobre lo que han escuchado respectivamente. Y debatirán en grupos de 4 personas si conocían los materiales mencionados, y qué medidas toman ellos en vida diaria para evitar contaminar y cuidar el medioambiente.

  En la siguiente tarea, se trabajará especialmente la expresión oral. En esta ocasión, a los alumnos se les presentarán una serie de fotos de diferentes espacios naturales situados en varios países de todo el planeta. Deberán comentar en parejas los lugares que les han mostrado, donde se encuentran y las costumbres de estos lugares si las conociesen.

En la tercera tarea se trabajará la comprensión escrita. Los alumnos deberán leer dos breves textos sobre los medios de transporte menos contaminantes. Después de la lectura, deberán localizar collocations, y responder unas preguntas sobre el texto. Tras esto, realizarán una actividad individual de expresión escrita, que consistirá en escribir una postal a un amigo en la que cuenten que están pasando un fin de semana en uno de los lugares descritos, incluyendo una descripción sobre cómo lo están pasando.

La tarea cuatro se centrará particularmente en la expresión escrita. En este caso, la tarea se centrará en la redacción individual de una carta a un revista, en la que los alumnos expresarán cómo imaginan un futuro ideal en el que el medio natural fuera cuidado y respetado por todo el mundo.

Finalmente, la última tarea está especialmente dirigida a la expresión oral.En este caso los alumnos representarán una situación en la que hablan de excursión que van a realizar a un paraje natural a elegir. Deberán ubicarlo geográficamente, comentar por qué han escogido ese sitio, qué tipo de transporte utilizarán para llegar, que actividades van a hacer en la naturaleza, etc.
